Our workflow is designed to ensure that every custom piece is technically sound, aesthetically balanced, and built to the exact needs of your space. Here is how we move from a raw concept to a finished object.
01
Personalize
Consultation & Design
Every project begins with a conversation, either in your home or digital, to establish the core intent of the piece. We discuss:
- Dimensions & Scale: How the object interacts with its intended environment.
- Material Selection: Choosing specific wood species (e.g., Walnut, White Oak, paint grade) based on grain patterns and structural requirements.
- Hardware: Choice of hardware specifics that meet requirements of color match and design needs. These will be stated in contract or supplied by the customer.
- Functional Needs: Weight-bearing requirements, finishing preferences (oil, wax, or lacquer), and longevity. May it be a trash pull out or appliance garage the plan of functionality will flow like water from our design to finish use.

Review
Proposal & Quoting
Once the design is solidified, you will receive a formal project proposal. This document serves as our roadmap and includes:
- Itemized Costing: A transparent breakdown of premium material sourcing and the labor-intensive hours required for hand-joined construction.
- Quotes: Some projects will require multiple quotes to show different capabilities. No one project is the same but all projects can be done in many ways. Prices will show levels of materials and processes to get to the finish product.
- Estimated Lead Time: A realistic window for completion based on the current shop queue.
- Technical Drawings: If required for complex builds, a simplified schematic is drawn before the first cut is made.

Make
The Fabrication Phase
This is the heart of the studio work. The build process follows a traditional hierarchy:
- Milling & Joinery: Breaking down rough lumber and cutting precise, structural joints (mortise and tenon, dovetails) that ensure the piece lasts generations.
- Surface Preparation: Hand-planing and sanding to highlight the natural luster of the wood.
- Finishing: Applying protective, non-toxic finishes that celebrate the tactile nature of the materials.
Terms of Service
- Deposits: A 10% deposit or up to $1000 deposit may be be requested.
- Payment: Project costs vary by scope and are handled through a milestone-based schedule. Following an initial deposit, subsequent payments are due upon the completion of specific phases, such as demolition, site preparation, or material delivery.
- Design Changes: Modifications requested will be brought to light with a change order. Once the changes are discussed and mutually agreed upon a price change if needed will be addressed in contract before the project continues.
- Natural Variation: Wood and natural fibers are organic materials. Minor variations in grain, color, and texture are inherent to the craft and are not considered defects. Color and grain specifications will be determined before the project finishing stage. If needed, tolerances for said grain or quality will be set in contract.
